Obstetrician & Gynaecologist

Russell graduated from Monash University with Honours in 1986 and commenced specialist obstetric and gynaecology training in 1990, undertaking his training at Monash Medical Centre and the Royal Women's Hospital in Melbourne with a range of inspiring teachers and mentors.


His training included a particular focus on fertility treatment including IVF and laparoscopic surgery. In 1994 Russell and his family moved to the UK, working at St John's Hospital in Chelmsford. Russell gained valuable knowledge and skills from this experience.


Russell and his family returned to Ballarat and he commenced his obstetric and gynaecology practice in 1995. Russell established Ballarat IVF in 2002, the Ballarat Endometriosis Clinic in 2004 and with Michael Bardsley established Obstetrics and Gynaecology Ballarat in 2006.


He has a strong focus on teaching of both medical students and specialist trainees, with an emphasis on team work, safety and attention to detail in the provision of medical care.


Russell enjoys spending time either at the beach or in Melbourne catching up with his family including his new grandson.
